Product Details

Product Description

The F 8652X (F8652X) serves as the high-integrity processing core for HIMA PES H41q series automation systems. Engineered for mission-critical safety environments, this central module utilizes a dual-microprocessor architecture designed to meet SIL 3 requirements according to IEC 61508. Each of the two INTEL 386EX 32-bit processors operates in clock-synchronized lockstep to ensure continuous cross-checking of logic execution and system states.

Equipped with robust memory allocation and isolated serial communication, the F 8652X (F8652X)  manages complex safety logic and high-speed diagnostics. It facilitates advanced networking capabilities when paired with the F 8627X communication module, supporting safeethernet and Modbus TCP protocols. The unit features a built-in four-digit matrix display, allowing engineers to toggle through real-time diagnostic data directly at the hardware level.

Technical Specifications

  • Processor Architecture: Dual INTEL 386EX (32-bit) with 25 MHz clock frequency

  • Safety Integrity Level: Certified up to SIL 3 (IEC 61508)

  • Onboard Memory (Per Processor): 1 MB Flash-EPROM for OS / 1 MB Flash-EPROM for User Programs / 1 MB SRAM for volatile data

  • Communication Interfaces: 2x RS 485 ports with full galvanic isolation

  • Safety Watchdog: Integrated hardware watchdog; 24 V output (500 mA capacity, short-circuit protected)

  • Diagnostic Interface: 4-digit LED matrix for local status and fault monitoring

  • Form Factor: 8 SU (Standard Units) width; occupies two European standard PCBs plus display board

  • Power Consumption: 5 V DC at 2 A

  • System Compatibility: H41q-MS, H41q-HS, and H41q-HRS safety-related systems

Advanced Integration and Networking

When integrated with the F 8627X Ethernet module via the backplane, the F 8652X extends its functionality to include:

  • Connection to PADT (ELOP II TCP) for programming and debugging.

  • Secure data exchange via safeethernet for peer-to-peer safety communication.

  • Industrial networking through Modbus TCP.

  • Self-education features (available with firmware BS41q/51q V7.0-8 and higher) for streamlined module replacement and system updates.

FAQ

Is the F 8652X compatible with older H41q operating systems?

The module supports legacy versions, but advanced features like ELOP II TCP and self-education protocols require operating system version BS41q/51q V7.0-8 (05.31) or later.

How does the watchdog function handle faults?

The safety-related watchdog provides a 24 V output that drops on fault detection, ensuring a fail-safe state. It is designed to handle up to 500 mA and is fully protected against short circuits.
