Product Details

The 3500/32-01-00 (composed of part numbers 149986-02 and 125720-02) is a full-height 4-channel relay output module designed for the Bently Nevada 3500 Machinery Protection System. It provides four independent relay channels that can be programmed to actuate based on alert, danger, or NOT-OK status conditions from any monitor module in the rack, supporting machinery safety shutdown and alarm annunciation workflows.

Functional Configuration and Logic

Each of the four relay channels can be independently configured using the 3500 Rack Configuration Software to execute custom voting logic utilizing AND/OR combinations. Input sources can map directly to alarm conditions, channel statuses, or Proportional-Plus-Local (PPL) variables across the rack framework.

The module features switch-selectable operation modes for each channel, allowing technicians to set relays as either Normally Energized or Normally De-energized depending on failsafe system design requirements. An integrated arc suppressor is installed as standard to extend contact longevity under inductive load switching.

Installation and Compatibility

The main module occupies one full-height front slot, while its matching I/O module occupies one full-height rear slot in any available slot to the right of the Transient Data Interface (TDI) module. The unit requires 3500 Rack Configuration Software version 4.5 or later for proper setup and parameter flashing.

For hazardous area or functional safety installations, field wiring voltages must comply strictly with certified limits (such as max 30 Vdc/Vac) to maintain safety ratings and prevent certification invalidation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can the Rack OK relay output on this module be utilized for auto-shutdown protection circuits?

A: No. The Rack OK relay should be restricted to general annunciation purposes only, as dozens of internal event conditions can trigger a NOT-OK status.

Q: What software is required to configure the relay voting logic for this module?

A: Configuration requires the Bently Nevada 3500 Rack Configuration Software (version 4.5 or later) connected via the TDI front USB port or network interface.

Optimizing Tank Level Control Using Proportional Algorithms in PLC Systems

Optimizing Tank Level Control Using Proportional Algorithms in PLC Systems

Industrial automation engineers frequently encounter liquid level regulation challenges across diverse process plants. Traditional ON-OFF control mechanisms often disrupt system stability due to abrupt actuator switching. Therefore, upgrading to closed-loop architectures like proportional control yields smoother responses. In a typical PLC environment, such as Siemens TIA Portal, engineers utilize closed-loop feedback to minimize process errors without requiring full PID complexity.

Understanding Why Your PLC Enters Stop Mode: Causes and Troubleshooting

In industrial automation, programmable logic controllers (PLCs) serve as the core intelligence of modern factory automation and distributed control systems (DCS). Understanding how a PLC transitions between modes is vital for maintenance engineers. Typically, a PLC operates across four primary modes: Run, Stop, Start-Up, and Hold. When power is applied, the system immediately boots into Stop mode before initiating the Start-Up sequence. If the controller encounters a critical error during execution, it automatically reverts to Stop mode to prevent equipment damage. Therefore, monitoring these state transitions helps technicians maintain high system availability.
