Emerson Solenoid Valves Help Customers Achieve More Compact Equipment Designs

Emerson has introduced a range of two - and three-way solenoid valves to enable original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to develop more compact devices without compromising fluid control performance. The body design and internal flow channels of the new ASCO™ 256/356 series are optimized for smaller size, lower power consumption, and higher pressure ratings that are critical for industrial and commercial applications.

The smaller size of the 256/356 series helps OEMs optimize the interior layout of their equipment, allowing more high-performance fluid control options to be integrated into smaller, more stylish final products. This is especially important for manufacturers of coffee and other beverage machines, HVAC systems, pumps and compressors, welding equipment, and analytical and medical equipment.

Smaller valves typically require higher power consumption for higher pressure ratings, but the 256/356 series can reduce power consumption by up to 40%. This allows OEMs to match or improve the fluid control performance of previous models while applying smaller valves and achieving significant energy savings.

Certain models of the redesigned 256/356 series have nearly 30% higher pressure ratings than their predecessors, enabling them to be used in more demanding applications, such as high-pressure cleaning equipment and hydrogen fuel cells. The performance of DC voltage models is now similar to that of AC voltage models, maximizing solenoid valve performance without switching to AC power, thereby reducing overall system cost.

"Emerson's 256/356 series solenoid valves have been redesigned to set a new benchmark in fluid control technology with a smaller size and lower power consumption while increasing pressure ratings," said Erik VanLaningham, vice president of global marketing for Emerson's Industrial Automation business. "In addition to these performance improvements, a wide range of body materials and connection styles are available. This provides OEMs with the widest selection from the same trusted supplier to reliably meet their diverse application needs.
